Monarchs make an incredible migration from their wintering grounds in Mexico to Wisconsin each year. Several generations are born in Wisconsin each summer and the last generation returns to Mexico in September. Unfortunately, monarchs are losing habitat in the Midwest, along their migration route and in Mexico. WGCF members have the opportunity to encourage their legislators to make monarchs Wisconsin’s state butterfly and raise awareness of this beautiful creature. Lynn Laufenberg, the State Butterfly Chairman, has provided a sample letter to send to your legislators. Take a moment to send it in today.
