Coulee
Coulee District is comprised of 6 garden clubs with memberships ranging from 9 to 29 members each, with a total of 113 members. All of the clubs have ongoing maintenance projects, as well as new potential projects within their communities. Several clubs have received the WGCF Civic Achievement Award.
Located along the southwestern edge of the state, the Coulee District boasts exceptional beauty. The picturesque hills and valleys border the Mississippi River. Agriculture, the ‘largest version of gardening,’ exists in all forms from crop farming to an abundance of vineyards. It is against this exquisite ‘backdrop’ that gardeners can only enhance, and protect, what nature has provided.
Very soon, a new horticultural learning center will open in La Crosse. Located in the downtown area on the Western Technical College campus, this new venue will host many opportunities for the encouragement of gardening. This has been a long awaited addition for La Crosse and the Coulee region. But now, the building is in process,
the greenhouses have been erected!
This district includes the counties of: Adams, Buffalo, Crawford, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Richland, Sauk, Trempealeau, Vernon Counties.
