Wisconsin Garden Club Scholarships
No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth, and no culture comparable to that of the garden. Thomas Jefferson

The mission of the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation (WGCF) includes providing education and opportunities for its members through gardening, floral design, community and the environment. The WGCF extends these opportunities to college students through its scholarship program. Scholarships encourage the study of horticulture, floriculture, landscape design and architecture, botany, forestry, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental studies, city planning, land management or related studies.

WGCF scholarships are funded through interest money accrued from the Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Garden club members and others donate to this fund as a tribute or in memory of a friend or loved one. Several members have generously bequeathed or sponsored named scholarships.

How to Apply:
Students having at least a 3.0 GPA in a scientific field of study enhancing the environment whose primary residence is Wisconsin may apply, for the following school year, during their sophomore – senior year of a four-year college or during graduate school. (Exception: Myrtle B. Ogilvie Scholarship: GPA of 2.5 or above, freshmen and those attending a two-year college may apply.) Students applying for a WGCF scholarship must attend a school within Wisconsin. Those applying for a NGC scholarship do not have this requirement.
  • WGCF scholarships are handled through the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region in Appleton, WI.  To apply for the scholarships, you will need to register on the site. WGCF scholarship applications are due by January 20th.
  • NCG Scholarship applications need to be submitted by February 1 of each year.

For additional information, contact WGCF Scholarship Chair, Mary Ellen Sedlachek.
